In football betting, there are literally hundreds of different betting opportunities. Some of them are not so easy to understand. In this article we will look at the most common types of football bets.
1X2 bets
1X2 bets are the most popular bet type. They are also known as "Signal Bets". "1" refers to the victory of the host team, "2" is to the success of the away team and "X" is the bet for the draw in the match.
This bet is also available for halftime when you predict whether at the end of the first half there will be a home, away or no one to lead.
Remember that 1x2 bets only apply to regular playing time - 90 minutes plus the added time. In tournament duels, where extensions and penalties are possible, a bet on the "Team to qualify" is offered, in which you predict who will go on to the next round. In this case, equal result is not possible.
Total: Under / Over
The total number of goals in regular playing time - combined by the hits of both teams - is another very popular bet. The numbers that determine the line to cover the bet are halves, so equal result (return of bet) is not possible.
This means you can, for example, bet more (Over) or Under (Under) 2.5 goals in a single match. Of course, the big bookmakers also offer any other line - from 0.5 to 5.5 goals.
Under / Over bets are also available separately for both halves and often are not limited to goals. Top bookmaker houses will offer you to bet with Under/ Over and the number of corners, cards, fouls, even the touch points.
Double chance
In this bet, you are betting on two of the three possible outcomes in the 1X2 market. The options are 1X, 12 and X2.
If you bet on Double Chance X2, for example, you will win if the match ends with a draw or a victory for the away team. Again, you can choose a double chance bet only for the first half.
Draw No Bet
Draw no bet is a relatively new bookmaker offering that allows you to bet on one of the two teams and the bookmaker gives you your money back in the event of a draw. You can also use Draw no bet for the first half.
HT / ER
The Half Time / End Result is a combination of two 1X2 bets on the same game - one bet is for the half time result and the other is for the end result. For example, if you bet X / 1, you bet the first part to end with draw, and in the second - the host team to win.
Exact result
In this market, you are trying to predict what the exact result will be after regular playing time. This is definitely not easy, so the winnings of this bet are usually quite large. You can also bet on the correct halftime score.
Handicap
This type of bet is a little more complicated. There are two types of handicap - traditional and Asian. In traditional handicap, the bookmaker gives a virtual advance to one of the two teams. This result is added to the true result to determine the winners of this market. For example, if the match Juventus - Cagliari is 0: 2 handicap and the Old Lady wins 3: 0, then the result will be 3: 2 after the handicap is added. That is, Juventus' win bets on this handicap will be profitable. If the handicap was 0: 3, they would have won the X bets.
The Asian Handicap also gives a virtual advantage to one team, except that it removes the draw option. There are many types of Asian handicap and so we have dedicated a special article about it - "Asian Handicap".
Goal Markets
There are many different bets that revolve around whether the team or teams will be able to score. Most of them need no explanation:
- Which team will score the first goal?
- Time of the first goal
- Both teams to score - Yes or No
- The host (or guest) to score - Yes or No
- The host / guest to score in both halves - Yes or No
- The host / guest will not score - Yes or No
- Host / Guest win to zero
Even/ Odd
In addition to Under / Over, you can bet whether the number of goals (corners, cards, etc.) will be odd or even. Of all sports betting, this one comes closest to pure gambling.
Penalties and red cards
Bookies allow you to make predictions about whether there will be a penalty or red card in the match in question.
Special bets for players
There are also multiple bets that focus on individual player performance such as:
- Which player will score the first goal
- Which player will score the last goal
- Player X to score - Yes or No
- Player X to score at least 2 goals
- Player X to score at least 3 goals
- Player X to score with his head
- Player X receives a yellow card
- Player X be expelled
One-on-one bets
In Special One-on-One bets, two players or two teams are matched to determine who covered a particular metric.
- Which player will score more goals during the season?
- Which player will score first during the season?
- Which team will finish first in the Championship?
Tournament or Championship bets
You can bet on winning a championship, finishing in the Top 3 or Top 5, leaving the group (in the Champions League, for example), relegation, a goal scorer in a championship or tournament, etc.
Live Betting
When you bet live, there are even more betting opportunities. Some examples:
- Which team will score the next goal?
- Which team will perform the next corner?
-
Which team will receive the next card?
- How will the next goal be scored - auto goal, a penalty kick, a free kick, a foot kick or a head kick?
Choose the right bookmaker
It is important to choose an online bookmaker where there are as many betting opportunities as possible. Because sometimes it's easier to know the number of corners than it is to guess who will win the game.
